Science Week

Science Week is November 12-16th at HBS!  We are getting excited for all the activities that we´ll get to enjoy during the week that center on the theme of SCIENCE!!!!

We are working on special projects to display during this week, and, of course, the third graders at HBS want to join in the fun!

The details:

Working in groups, or individually, students will choose an invention from the Victorian Era.  We chose this period of time because there was such a boom of inventions!  Here are a few examples:
2. After you have chosen an invention, you must research about its history.   Make sure to find out:
Who invented it?  What was the inventor like? (was he famous/poor/rich, etc)
What was it used for?  How has this invention changed from the 19th century to the present day?  Was the invention successful?

3. Get creative!  Using arts and crafts materials, make something to show us what the invention was!  You can use any materials you like and build a miniature phone or train.  Use cardboard, plasticine, paints, paper mache....anything you can get your hands on to help your classmates learn about the invention!

4. Write something.  Make a small poster or sign that explains your project and also tells us about the invention and inventor.

The group with the best project from each class will be chosen to present their work to the whole school!  They can dress up like the inventor and really get into the part!

Good Luck and Have Fun!!!

Thanks to everyone for making Science Week such a success!!!  Here are some photos of our projects :)
